Father’s Day gift ideas
Find out what dads REALLY want for Father’s Day. (Hint: Not a tie.)
If I told my kids, “It’s that time again,” they’d probably say:
“Time to watch the new Star Wars™ trailer again?”
And I’d say, “Heck yeah!”
But then I’d gather my wits about me and remember that it’s ACTUALLY time for something else...time for kids like them, kids everywhere in fact, to fly all over the galaxy in a desperate attempt to find something Dad might actually want for Father’s Day.
Because make no mistake, this can be a ginormous dilemma. And not just for kids of a dad who has everything. It’s just as big a problem when the dad has, like, seven things. Because he might feel great about his seven things. He might line ’em up on the mantle and say, “You know what, dear children? I’m pretty good here, thing-wise.”
Year after year, dads everywhere confuse their kids by pretending not to want any gifts. It’s some kind of Dad-Speak Ritual passed down from one generation to the next. He doesn’t want you to “make a fuss” or “go out of your way” or “buy him a ticket for the first commercial flight into space.”
But deep down, no matter what he says, you know he’d appreciate, well, something. So here goes…
Force-Worthy Father’s Day Gift Ideas
If you’re asking yourself, “Does my dad have enough awesome Star Wars™ stuff?” The answer is “Absolutely not, because that isn’t possible.”
Especially if your dad also cried manly tears when he heard Han Solo™ say “Chewie™, we’re home” in that magnificent teaser from back in April. I’m still crying the manly tears.
Obviously a dad like that would want a Yoda™ Destiny Decider. A no-brainer, that is. Or you could make him do Jedi™ backflips of joy by giving him the Lightsaber™ Pizza Cutter. As the old saying goes: If you can’t cut off a Hoth Wampa’s™ arm, a slice of pizza’s the next best thing! (C’mon now, this is a dad who appreciates jokes like: “Why does Darth Vader™ have a Perpetual Calendar? Because that’s how long the Dark Side wants to rule the galaxy—perpetually.”)
And the “I am your father” quote on the big mug? Are you kidding me? That line never gets old. Lord Vader knows I’ve said it about 10 squillion times in my own house. So be sure to give him a Father’s Day that will be long-remembered.
Shameless, Self-Promotional Father’s Day Gift Idea
Do not let the fact that I wrote this book affect your decision. All personal bias aside, this might be the greatest book ever created. I’m only saying “might be” because there’s probably a secret, unpublished manuscript by some super-famous author that’s about to be discovered in an attic somewhere. Otherwise, it’s this one, no contest.
Seriously, it’s a fun and simple way for Dad to hear his young kids saying sweet, adorable things about him for years to come. And someday, Dad can pull it out and play it for the kid’s prom date. I know I’m going to!
Chill Father’s Day Gift Ideas
Yep, Dad loves him some wordplay. Especially when it’s paired with something that isn’t, you know, ugly. These Life is good® gifts are as chill as he is. Plus, believe it or not, unlike a lot of Father’s Day gifts, these are actually designed to be functional AND tasteful. The subtle, casual vibe will blend nicely with your dad’s approachable, easygoing nature. Especially if you bond with your dad the way my kids do, via the classics: grilling, chilling, etc. Life is good indeed.
Picture-Perfect Father’s Day Gift Ideas
If your dad’s anything like me, most days there’s a haze of exhaustion clouding his ability to make a grocery list, let alone remember any Big Profound Thoughts About Life. But some things we’ll never forget, like how much we love our kiddos. Whether it’s as simple as a really nice frame for a workspace or something with a little more oomph, like this We Love You Because kit, Hallmark offers a range of easy ways to stay close to those smiling faces and their wonderful words. What could be a better day-brightener than that? Answer: nothing.
