Sizzling summer party food
Fire up any summer gathering with make-your-own fajitas and fruit crisps
Does summer have you in a picnic state of mind? Eating outside is as simple as throwing open the back door. When we circle our lawn chairs underneath a sunny sky, not only does life slow down, but we laugh more, worry less and just have more fun. The picnic state of mind is not about washing dishes or cooking perfection, but filling our plates with easy traditions and tasty memories.
Our oh-so-easy summer menu features make-your-own fajitas and individual fruit crisps—just let your guests put together their favorite combinations for a festive outdoor feast everyone is sure to enjoy!
The basis for any fajita is a tortilla and grilled meat. But you can personalize it with garnishes and sauces.
Tip: Start small or you'll end up with an unrollable object.
Figure on an average of 1 cup each. Naturally, you'll want to have more of the popular items (like cheese) and less of the challenging ones (like jalapeños).
- Salsa (hot and mild)
- Bean dip
- Shredded cheese
- Sour cream
- Tomatoes, seeded, diced
- Shredded lettuce
- Pickled or fresh jalapeños, chopped
- Chopped scallions
There's a vast selection. Here are a few:
- Hot sauces
- Fajita sauce
- Steak sauce
- Teriyaki sauce (sounds like sacrilege, but it tastes really good)
