You don’t have to be a gift-wrapping guru to make yours the best-dressed presents under the tree. Watch our video tutorial to learn how to create a fringed Christmas tree adornment, a pocket for your card and fun banners to unfurl across your gift. Simple, sweet and special! Find the festive gift wrap shown at and at your local Hallmark Gold Crown store.

Fringe Christmas Tree

What you’ll need:

  • Tissue paper (we used two shades of green)
  • Cardstock or thin cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape
  • Star
  • Gift tag

1. Cut a square of the tissue paper to create a “branch” for your tree. Fold the tissue paper square in half lengthwise.
2. Cut slits or fringe in the open side of the folded square. Stop before reaching the fold.
3. Tape the fringed tissue paper to a piece of cardboard or cardstock. The fringe side should be at the bottom. Repeat until fringed rows cover the cardboard. (We cut five squares total in two shades of green tissue paper.)
4. Cut the fringe-covered cardboard into a triangle. Affix the Christmas tree to the gift.
5. Add a star and a gift tag.

Gift Wrap Card Pocket

What you’ll need:

  • Double-sided gift wrap
  • Baker’s twine
  • Scissors
  • Tape to affix the twine
  • Pom pom
  • Greeting card

1. Take a corner of a rectangular-shaped piece of double-sided gift wrap, and fold diagonally so that it is even with the opposite edge. Flip it over so that the triangle is now on the bottom and the open side of the triangle is facing down. Place the gift on the gift wrap.
2. Take the top edge of the gift wrap, and fold it over the gift. Secure with tape.
3. Continue wrapping as you would any other gift, folding under the ends and securing with tape.
4. Wrap the baker’s twine around two sides of the gift, and secure with tape.
5. Add a pom pom, and slip a card into the pocket you created.

Gift Wrap Banner

What you’ll need:

  • Gift wrap
  • Baker’s twine
  • Scissors
  • Tape to affix the twine

1. Cut a piece of twine a little longer than the width or length of your gift.
2. Cut a small diamond shape out of gift wrap.
3. Fold the diamond over the twine to make a triangle, and tape it to twine. Repeat until you have the desired number of flags along your banner.
4. Fasten the banner to the gift with tape. Repeat the steps to create the desired number of banners. (We created three banners.)
5. Add a bow at the top of the banners.
