16th birthday party decor and theme ideas
- Driving/driver’s license theme 🚗 This party idea is great for new or aspiring drivers. Car decals, mini sports cars or Malibu Barbie cars would be fun party favors.
- Sweet Sixteen 🍭 Party favors and decor could include candy, pastries, soft colors, sparkles and more.
- Y2K 📀 Believe it or not, this style is trending among today’s teens. Everyone can dress up as their favorite Y2K singer or TV show and have a costume contest. Bonus points if you can find Y2K candy and blank CDs to use as decor and/or a Polaroid camera for a DIY photobooth.
- Masquerade ball 👠 Dress to impress! The decor can include large feather centerpieces with pearls, jewels and a palette of bold colors.
- Have a slumber party 😄 Invite the besties and have a movie night at home. Include a popcorn machine, matching pajamas, bold colors and party games. You can even add a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood!
Is your teenager into surprises? This surprise party theme may be a great 16th birthday idea for you!

16th birthday food ideas
- Ice cream bar🍦Add fun toppings that pull in the color theme, such as sprinkles, chocolate-covered candies or gummy bears.

- Chocolate fountain 🍫 Pairs well with fruit, pretzels or pastries and is pretty memorable, too.
- Hamburgers and hot dogs 🌭 Classic, super easy and great for a spring or summer outdoor party. But have a vegetarian option on hand just in case!
