Goodbye winter and hello spring!
In the same way that we see the powerful transformation of earth as winter melts into spring, God can also transform our hearts so that we can grow closer to His.

“The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtle doves fills the air.”
Song of Solomon 2:12 NLT
Spring is such an amazing time of year. It’s a time when all kinds of plants—everything from trees and bushes to flowers and tiny little blades of grass—begin to cover the earth, bringing with them a sense of hope and renewal.
It’s even more amazing when we consider that it was just mere weeks ago when we looked out our windows to see bare branches, brown and yellowed grass, and a mixture of rocks and dirt piled on the cold ground.
What a powerful transformation!
So powerful, in fact, it’s hard not to notice the parallels between this new season and the renewal of one’s heart in Jesus as we say “goodbye winter, hello spring.” Revelation 21:5 NLT even says, “I am making everything new.”
As you begin to notice the signs of the new season, check in with your soul. Do you feel removed or distant from God? Do you want a do-over? Have you lost sight of what is important in life, or do you need to renew your heart for Jesus?
If so, take time this spring to enjoy the flowers, to thank God for His beautiful creation, and ask Him to renew your heart. Ask God to completely transform you so that you can live out His will for your life and shine His light for others to see.
Take a moment to reflect on what Scripture says about the change of seasons and the renewing of our hearts:
- “Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”
Hosea 6:3 ESV - “Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone.”
Zechariah 10:1 NIV - “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Psalm 19:1 NIV - “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today andtomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”
Matthew 6:28-30 NIV
When we look at seasons in the Bible, we are reminded that Jesus has the power to transform the earth. In a similar and reflective way, we are watching new life blossom from what recently seemed to be desolate and bleak. Spring renewal is one of the most beautiful gifts we are given each year.
In the Scriptures above, we also find that Jesus has the power to transform hearts. He promises to shower us as the spring rains water the earth, provide for us with the work of His hands and care for us more than the flowers of the field. Take a moment this spring to breathe in these truths!
In the same way that we see the powerful transformation of earth as winter melts into spring, God can also transform our hearts so that we can grow closer to His.
