Six Scriptures for spiritual rest this summer

A cushioned patio chair sits next to a small wooden table; atop the table are two books and a glass of water with lemon slices.

A recipe for a relaxing summer afternoon: the sun’s warming rays, a cool drink, something good to read, a comfortable chair. Yet even in these moments of longed-for rest, our minds can continue to race. While we yearn for inner peace, it’s not always easy to slow our thoughts, nourish our spirit, and refill our cup. If that sounds familiar, perhaps there’s one more ingredient for true renewal and refreshment: time with God’s Word.

Being filled with true peace means being attentive to the One who created us and His desires for us. Here are six Scriptures that offer a reminder to draw near to God and savor His love and promises.

Matthew 11:28-29
