What are some same-day gift ideas?
Having to figure out a same-day gift might feel like a worst-case scenario, but same-day gifts can actually feel extra special! They can help you feel like you’re part of the moment, even if you’re not physically there.
- Homemade treats. If you like to bake, then a homemade treat will almost always taste the best on the day it’s made! Also, the effort of making something yourself stands out as extra meaningful. 🍪
- Garden goodies. If you have a garden, then a fresh-cut bouquet (doesn’t have to be big) or an herb and veggie basket are great options. Similar to the homemade baked goods, something you grew yourself will feel extra special to the gift recipient. 🌷
- Filled coffee cup carrier. Four-cup to-go carriers make a quick and cute gift base! Order the gift recipient’s favorite drink, grab a drink carrier to go with it and fill the other three cup holes with little gifts. Some ideas: a muffin or favorite pastry, a small candle, a mini succulent, a handful of their favorite candy, etc. Just be sure to pick up the drink last so it’s fresh! ☕
What are some easy last-minute gift ideas?
If your schedule is still packed when you need to get your last-minute gifts, it’s important to have some extra quick and easy options.
- Store-bought flowers. Not everyone has a garden to make their own bouquet! Store-bought flowers are just as lovely, especially if you take care to get the recipient’s favorite kind (or, at the very least, flowers in their favorite color). To take an extra step off their plate, trim the stems and place them in a vase as well. 💐 You could also wrap them in pretty tissue paper or gift wrap if you don’t see a vase you like.
- A scheduled delivery. Check your local businesses’ next-day and same-day delivery policies and capabilities. Bakeries, flower shops, delis (for charcuterie boards) and more often have delivery options! 🚚
- Gift cards. They’re quick, easy and give your gift recipient the option to pick something they know they want. Just be sure you pick a store/restaurant they actually go to (or have been wanting to go to) so it still feels thoughtful! And definitely include a personal note. We have gift card message ideas here! 📝
What are some thoughtful last-minute gift ideas?
Coming up with a thoughtful gift doesn’t have to take a long time. Start by thinking about the recipient’s favorite things or a memory you share together, then tackle the last-minute aspect from there.
- Framed photos. There are same-day photo printing options if you don’t have your own printer (and/or don’t want to use normal printer paper) and a cool frame is only a thrift store (or Gold Crown store) away! Framed photos are classic gifts for a reason—few things are more special than a real-life moment frozen in time. 🖼️
- Repurposed sentimental objects. It’s important to be crafty with this one so your gift recipient feels like they can either use the gift or display it. You could frame old concert tickets with a picture or show poster, turn a trinket into a keychain, turn a souvenir into a fridge magnet, etc. This idea will shine brighter with a card to explain the item’s history—especially if it’s not immediately obvious. 🎫
- Ticket vouchers. When you’re giving someone ticket vouchers, you’re not just giving a gift. You’re helping to make a future experience with awesome memories happen! They can feel extra meaningful if they’re related to something you do together, like sporting events, concerts, comedy shows, trips, etc. 🎟️
What are some last-minute gift ideas for him?
For the masculine folks in your life, there are a ton of great last-minute gifts. These are just a few:
- Beard stuff. You can go with sample balms, little combs, trimming/shaving sets or even some fun beard accessories, if they’ve got a long one! It’s meaningful to remind the guys in your life that they deserve self-care time, too! 🪮
- Six-pack of craft beers or old-fashioned soda. Some places let you create your own six-pack of sorts, which is a great way to mix gifting a safe favorite with something new and exciting. This also creates some fun memory-making potential if you try all the flavors together! 🥤
- Sauces and seasonings. Good flavor is a gift that keeps on giving! If they’re into cooking you can go with some gourmet spice mixes, and if they’re mostly just into eating then there are lots of great already-made sauces, jams and dips. They can even be a prelude to a future hangout—like BBQ sauce to try at the next cookout. 🧂
What are some last-minute gift ideas for her?
There are so many amazing last-minute gifts for the femme folks in your life! Some helpful things to know: her favorite color(s), scent(s) and style(s). But here are some more specific items she might like:
- A spa night kit. Nose strips, scrubs, face masks (peeling and/or moisturizing), nail polish…all can likely be found at your nearest drugstore and will help your gift recipient get some pampering R&R. If you’re not sure about their skin sensitivity, do a little research before buying anything. 🧴
- Tea. If your girl likes tea, get her favorite(s) or a variety pack and toss them in a cute mug. You could also do cider, hot cocoa or a mini bag of coffee, too. Cheers! 🫖
- Wine. Wrap the bottle in a tea towel, add a glass or two, put it in a nice basket or pretty gift bag, and you’re golden. This is also another instance in which it can be nice to do one tried-and-true favorite and one new-to-them option, so that your gift recipient gets something they know they like and a new experience. 🍷
What are some last-minute gift ideas for them?
Whether your recipient is nonbinary or just not stereotypical with their likes and interests, there are lots of fantastic last-minute gifts that don’t feel gender-specific!
- Travel accessories. Cozy sweats, neck pillows, handheld fans, cute phone chargers—these are honestly things people can just use at home, too. Being useful and adding comfort is a winning combo. ✈️
- Thrift store treasure(s). Search for some of their favorite albums on vinyl and grab a couple neither of you have heard of so you can listen together. You can easily assemble your own gift basket at a thrift store, too. A book here, a candle there, a tchotchke and a vintage teacup to top it off, and voilà. 🛍️
- A new game. It can be a boardgame, a jigsaw puzzle, a book of crosswords, a video game—whichever they’re most into! This is a great option if you’re bringing your last-minute gift to a gathering, too. 🎮
What are some last-minute digital and instant gift ideas?
Digital and instant don’t have to be the opposite of meaningful! There are some great ways to give last-minute gifts with just a few taps on your phone.
- A playlist. Put together a list of songs you sing in the car together or pick each song so that the playlist reads as a sentence. Have fun with the custom cover photo and playlist name. 🎶
- A video, slideshow or collage. There are tons of apps that can help you with each of these, and they’re great ways to fit in multiple pictures and messages without worrying about cluttering up the recipient’s physical space. 📷
- Subscription services. It can be super overwhelming to worry about paying for multiple subscriptions. Pick one with a show or movie your friend has been wanting to watch and gift them a few months (or a whole year). If that friend likes Hallmark, Hallmark+ has a whole gift subscription setup! 📺
What are some last-minute, in-store pickup gift ideas?
Luckily a lot of gift stores have gift bags and wrap if you’re really in a rush, so here are some tips for last-minute in-store pickup gifts.
- Pre-made gift boxes and baskets. Some stores, like Hallmark Gold Crowns for instance, have pre-arranged gift sets! Maybe your gift recipient loves donuts, cheese or Peanuts®—picking a favorite food or fandom of theirs is a great place to start. Spa stores are also excellent for this. Just be sure to check that products are available in-store that day if you’re scoping things out online first. 🎁
- A movie-night kit. Popcorn bowl, popcorn, candy and a new blanket make a pretty great gift for your movie-loving gift recipients. You can throw in a DVD if they still use a DVD player or pay for the streaming rental. 🍿
- A potted plant. If your gift recipient likes plants, there are places that sell them already potted and/or will pot them for you! If they don’t have the greenest of thumbs, you can ask a staff member for help picking a sturdy one. Write down care instructions, too! 🪴
What are some personalized last-minute gift ideas?
Every good gift will have some element of personalization to it, but here are a few more in-depth personalized last-minute gifts.
- Something related to their star/zodiac sign. It can be jewelry or other merchandise, or it could be a special astrocartography reading or birth chart analysis. You can also focus on birth flowers, birthstones or even just things with their name or initials on it. 💫 We have birth flower meanings and more here!
- A customized tote bag. Everyone could use a tote, and they’re easy to customize. Add pins, patches or even embroider a quick design for that personalized touch. 🧵
- A decorated baked good. Whether you make it all or buy the base and add to it, a dessert feels extra fun when it has a personal message or design for the gift recipient on it. If you’re worried about it looking neat, you don’t have to hand-write or draw anything. Decorate with candy or little figurines or a ton of different candles. 🎂
A final note for our last-minute gift-givers: Please remember that last-minute timing doesn’t directly equal thoughtlessness. The reality of busy adult schedules (and oftentimes neurodivergence) is hard enough to manage without you beating yourself up on top of it. Though when you do have a few minutes, we have a lot of great ideas, gifts and cards to stash away for the future. 😉
